Psychometric Assessments can play an invaluable role in educational settings. Our Registered School Counsellor provides excellent educational assessments specifically focused on helping children succeed in their school careers.

Our school career often influences the direction our later lives will follow. In particular our school experiences affect our self-image, self-esteem, and self-confidence. Psychometric assessments are able to provide critical information in identifying learning difficulties and assisting individuals overcome barriers to learning. It is important to identify any potential difficulties early to make sure they do not have a major impact later on. Typical barriers to learning include speech difficulties, difficulties with reading, writing, spelling, comprehension, mathematics, concentration difficulties and ADHD, achievement motivation and emotional difficulties.
The earlier a barrier is identified, the easier it is to take steps to overcome it. While learners of all ages can be assisted in numerous ways, the most effective time to implement learning interventions is between the ages of 3 and 12.
Depending on the barrier and the age of the child we assess general cognitive ability, reading, spelling, and comprehension levels, mathematical skills, fine-motor skills, and visual and auditory discrimination. To make sure that we achieve the most accurate results in our assessments, we like to work closely with the learner’s parents and teachers as well. The results of the assessments are explained to parents and teachers where necessary. All results are also detailed in a comprehensive feedback report.
We assess learners and make recommendations regarding special concessions in accordance with the guidelines set out by the Department of Education.
In addition to this our School Counsellor provides excellent study skills training on a one-to-one basis or in small groups. Learners are required to bring their school books to make the experience more meaningful. Various study methods and techniques are identified and discussed with the learner. Learners are shown how to apply these to their school work.
